Your needs, this model
Does it fit your priorities?
Can the 80x80 L fit within an 80-inch corner on both sides?
The exact size-specific drawing shows an 80-by-80 outside envelope around a cutout, not a solid 80-inch square. A 79-inch maximum wall run excludes the plan.
Explore this need in the finder →Can its finished work surface lower to 25 inches?
The exact 80x80 page and manual state 25–50.5 inches at the surface. It does not meet a strict 24-inch lower-height requirement.
Explore this need in the finder →How many saved height positions can the handset store?
The current page and exact manual document four stored positions. A need for five saved positions is not met.
Explore this need in the finder →The Vari L-Shape Electric Standing Desk 80x80 is the largest footprint in the Vari corner-desk family reviewed here. The U.S. product page identifies master FD-LSESD8080; this assessment follows the Reclaimed Wood/Slate option, seller SKU 402764. Its name refers to the outside dimensions of an L, not an 80-inch-square slab. The separate specification drawing shows the actual arm widths, corner cutout, and inner opening. That distinction matters when estimating usable space, placing monitor arms, or deciding whether the desk will fit around a room’s doors and cabinets.
Large connected surface, one shared height
The 80x80 provides two long sides around a corner for a user who wants a main computer zone and substantial room for reference material, devices, or project work on the other wing. It can also be easier to organize by task than a single long rectangle. The trade is a large 80-by-80-inch outside footprint, including floor occupied by three lifting columns and feet. Vari lists the assembled product at 257.5 pounds; moving it through a home and turning it upright are not casual solo tasks.
The product is still one desk. The 18-page size-specific manual identifies three legs and connects them to one control box and one handset. The three motors move the connected desktop together; the wide L does not become two independently height-adjustable desks. If two people must change their work surfaces separately, look for a system documented with independent controls rather than interpreting the two wings as two stations.
What the specifications do and do not say
Vari states a 200-pound weight capacity, three whisper-quiet motors, four programmable height settings, and a work-surface travel range of 25 to 50.5 inches. The instruction booklet likewise calls for two people to assemble it and specifies a 200-pound maximum. The manufacturer does not state whether the rating is static or dynamic, how load is distributed across the L, or how much capacity remains after including the top and accessories. It is a published maker limit, not an independent test. A requirement for a known static rating or a particular residual equipment payload remains unresolved.
The four memory positions can make returning to measured seated and standing heights more convenient. The manual also describes adjusting travel limits and recalibrating the display. Those controls do not make a 25-inch low point lower; if your body or chair setup calls for a work surface below 25 inches, this desk is not confirmed for that need. Keep the raising path clear and inspect that the monitor arms, cords, and room walls remain clear at both ends of the range.
Plan the installation before choosing the largest top
The manual’s parts list includes two long desktop sections, a corner desktop, rails, plates, three legs, control components, and cable extensions. It describes four boxes and says two people are required. Vari warns that parcels can arrive in separate deliveries. Clear a wide, flat, smooth assembly surface, keep the parts separated until identified, and use two people to turn the completed frame and top upright. The current page says no drilling is required, but that does not eliminate the substantial alignment and lifting steps depicted in the manual.
Vari describes the top as a 1¼-inch laminate-wrapped surface. The reclaimed-wood look in the selected SKU is a finish, not proof that this is a solid-wood top. The visible core or substrate is not specified in the reviewed documents. The desk page lists cable management, drawer, undermount storage, monitor arms, and panels as compatible additions, but those components are not included merely because they appear in the maker’s staged photographs. Vari also states that undermount storage cannot be attached to the same desktop as the drawer; decide where each accessory would go before drilling or attaching anything. The stated included extras are two hooks, cable wraps, and a coaster.
Clearances and maintenance expectations
The manual requires at least an inch from nearby surfaces, tells the installer to keep all cables clear of the movement path, and warns not to use unapproved attachments. It limits continuous repeated travel to two minutes within a 20-minute period to protect against overheating. It describes an anti-collision reaction and lets the user adjust its sensitivity, but the booklet says bumps or shaking can trigger it. Do not treat it as a substitute for keeping people, pets, cords, and objects clear while moving the desk. The control box and leg wiring also make setup and troubleshooting a little more involved than a fixed-height L desk.
Who has a reason to choose it?
This model fits a room where a very broad corner workstation is needed, the user prefers one unified L surface, and an 80-by-80-inch envelope is genuinely available. The six finish options change appearance, not the height range or surface dimensions. The selected 402764 manufacturer picture shows the correct reclaimed-finish L-shaped desk, but whether the staged room is a photograph, render, or composite is uncertain; its monitors, printer, chair, and decor are not confirmed package items.
Compare the 80x60 if one wall can take a long run but the other should remain shorter, or the 60x60 if the corner should stay compact. A rectangular desk may fit more easily in an open room, while a frame-only system can be better if a precise custom top matters and you are willing to verify the supported configuration. In the finder, the 80x80 plan satisfies an included L-shaped desk, a 25-inch minimum surface height, and an 80-by-80 outside footprint. It cannot meet a smaller measured footprint, a below-25-inch minimum, an included add-on requirement, or the need for a separately controlled second position.

Paper, software and setup details
Desktop and configuration note
Complete 80x80 corner desk with three included top sections, three connected lifting legs, one shared panel, four saved height positions and a 25–50.5-inch finished-surface range. Four shipped boxes are identified in the exact manual. It is not a frame-only plan or a rectangular desktop.
Load-rating interpretation
The product page, exact instruction manual and official sheet state a maximum capacity of 200 lb. They do not define static versus dynamic basis, load distribution over the L, or remaining equipment payload after the included top; the static/dynamic fact fields remain unknown.
Operating and setup note
Three lifting legs/motors connect to one control box and one handset, so the connected L-shaped work surface moves together. Four saved heights are documented. Keep the one-inch clearance, cable path and manufacturer duty limit.
