A useful fit for

A deliberately narrow 42-inch-wide top that keeps the full 30-inch front-to-back depth: potentially useful in a short-wall workstation for one compact monitor or laptop setup where side-to-side width is more constrained than depth.

The main tradeoff

The selected top is fixed at 42 × 30 inches, black laminate rather than solid wood, and has no grommet holes. Its V3 frame's 355 lb figure is a lifting capacity that includes the desktop, not a confirmed static rating; the finished-surface low point and Basic-keypad memory positions remain unconfirmed.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Do I get a complete moving desk with an included top, or only a frame?

This exact selector plan includes a 42 × 30 × 1-inch Black Laminate desktop, black V3 C-frame and Basic Display Angled Keypad; it is not the frame-only option.

Can this plan fit a measured 42-inch-wide space while still providing 30 inches of desktop depth?

The selected top is fixed at 42 × 30 inches. It reaches a 30-inch depth while occupying a 42-inch length; a requirement for a longer top or a room maximum under either dimension changes the fit.

Does this exact V3 C-frame meet a two-motor minimum?

Yes. The FV3-200 specification sheet identifies a two-motor frame, and its assembly manual routes the selected frame's two motors through M1 and M2. A requirement for three motors is not met.

This assessment is pinned to one selection on UPLIFT's U.S. Clearance Standing Desk page: the listing SKU is LIS-clearance-desk; the desktop option is Black Laminate, 42 × 30 inches and 1 inch thick; the frame option is a black V3 C-frame with standard feet; the keypad is the Basic Display Angled Keypad in black; and the desktop choice has no grommet holes. The page offers a much broader set of tops, feet, controls and add-ons, but this review does not transfer those other choices into the desk described here. “Clearance” refers to the page's overstocked desktop offer, not to a separate kind of lift mechanism.

A compact width with more depth than the name suggests

The 42-inch length is the unusual part of this plan. The 30-inch depth preserves front-to-back space for a monitor stand, keyboard and a clear working area, while the shorter side-to-side span can fit a narrow wall or a small spare-room office. It is not a broad dual-monitor surface by default: before buying, map the actual feet, monitor stand, speakers, writing space and cable paths onto a 42-by-30 rectangle. A 30-inch-deep desktop also projects farther into the room than a 24-inch top, so check both dimensions rather than equating “compact” with shallow.

Black Laminate is a finish name for a manufactured surface, not a claim that the top is solid black hardwood. This exact selection is the one-inch laminate option. If you need a natural wood top, a lighter visual finish, a 24-inch-deep surface or a different size, the other choices visible in the builder are separate configurations. The selected top has no grommet holes. That keeps the surface visually plain, but it also means this fact plan does not provide the pass-through opening or integrated power that a different grommet selection might add. Plan cables behind the desk or verify another supported option; do not assume that drilling the top is a harmless substitute.

The frame choice is matched to the 30-inch top

The chosen support is UPLIFT's two-leg V3 C-frame. The page labels the selected black option as having 27.5-inch feet; the FV3-200 specification drawing calls its standard feet 27.6 inches and pairs them with 30-inch-deep desks. That small label difference is recorded rather than hidden. The same sheet gives a 21.6-to-47.7-inch bare-frame height range and an adjustable frame width. Those are frame measurements, not a guarantee of the finished work-surface range for this exact desktop-and-foot combination, so the matcher does not use an inferred surface minimum. If a very low sitting position is essential, compare the finished height of the assembled desk with your own chair and posture needs before purchase.

The manufacturer publishes 355 pounds as lifting capacity for this V3 frame family and says desktop weight is included. It is not documented as a static-load rating or as a payload remaining after the desktop is installed. Do not use that number to prove a required static equipment limit. The specification sheet also lists two motors, speed up to 2 inches per second, noise below 48 dB while moving, and a 15-year frame warranty. These are manufacturer claims, not measurements made for this article.

Basic control and surface wiring

The selected controller is the Basic Display Angled Keypad, not an advanced upgrade. The selector also lists FRM072-WHT and FRM072-GRY; these are keypad-housing colors, not desk finishes. Their images show controls under light tops, not this selected surface. The FV3-200 manual’s advanced programming section does not establish saved positions for this Basic Display control, so memory support stays unknown. If saved heights or USB charging are must-haves, verify another keypad as a separate plan.

The no-grommet option means there is no through-top cable opening or built-in powered grommet in this configuration. I also do not count an optional tray, bundle, foot switch, caster set or other add-on as included. Route power and signal leads so they cannot snag during travel. The C-frame manual covers the mounting-hole layout, M1/M2 motor connections, a first-use reset and anti-collision adjustment. It specifies a 10-percent duty cycle: no more than two continuous minutes of movement followed by at least 18 minutes at rest within a 20-minute period. Anti-collision protection is not a reason to leave hands, pets or objects in the desk's path.

Who this selection makes sense for

Consider it if your measured space is unusually short from left to right but can accept a 30-inch-deep top, and you want the top and two-leg frame in one configured desk rather than sourcing a surface separately. The longer depth can suit a monitor-and-keyboard arrangement without spending the full width of a 48- or 60-inch desk. It is a poor choice when you need a long writing area, more than 42 inches of top length, a solid-wood material, a built-in power opening, confirmed keypad memories, or a static load rating.

In the finder, asking for a two-leg frame and an included desktop admits this plan. Combining that with an exact 42-inch length and a 30-inch minimum depth isolates its real footprint; a 43-inch minimum top length rejects it. Requiring solid wood or a powered grommet also changes the outcome because this selected plan is laminate and hole-free. If the depth is right but you need more side-to-side space, the reviewed UPLIFT V3 four-leg 48 × 30 configuration is a larger comparison; if you need a shorter desktop, the reviewed UPLIFT V3 60 × 24 C-frame uses a different shape of compactness and a different top size.

This is a source-based assessment, not a hands-on test. The selector’s main gallery shows another finish; the selected top is represented only by a black swatch. The frame and keypad option images show components, not an assembled 42 × 30 desk. Refer to the UPLIFT Clearance Standing Desk selector and V3 C-frame instructions before choosing different options.

Paper, software and setup details

Desktop and configuration note

The exact selection is an included 42 × 30 × 1-inch Black Laminate desktop, not a frame-only desk and not a solid-wood top. The selected grommet choice is No Grommet Holes in Desktop; this plan does not include a built-in powered grommet. The clearance family page also lists other desktop materials/sizes, keypads, frame colors/feet, grommets and accessories; those combinations are separate and are not inferred from this one fact plan.

Load-rating interpretation

The V3 C-frame sheet states 355 lb lifting capacity, not a static rating, and the top weight is included in the family statement. The reviewed source set does not establish an equipment payload or a static maximum for this selected top/frame plan.

Operating and setup note

The selected Basic Display Angled Keypad is not an Advanced keypad. The reused V3 C-frame manual gives reset, motor connection and anti-collision instructions and a 10-percent duty cycle (up to two continuous minutes of movement followed by at least 18 minutes resting in a 20-minute period). Its advanced keypad programming section does not establish memory positions for this basic keypad; memory support remains unknown.
