A useful fit for

A narrow 42-inch-long, full-depth 30-inch Black Laminate top with a two-motor V3 frame and a two-position paddle controller. The selected FRM055-BLK version is useful when one repeatable lower position and one at-or-above-35.5-inch position are enough; no-grommet desktop access remains intact.

The main tradeoff

The paddle adds two saved positions and timed reminders over the reviewed Basic Display selection, but it is not a four-preset controller and its two positions are divided by the 35.5-inch threshold. The top remains fixed at 42 × 30 inches, has no selected grommet/power module, and its finished minimum height and static-load basis remain unknown. A 3-motor or confirmed static-rating requirement is not met.

Your needs, this model

Does it fit your priorities?

Are two saved positions enough if the paddle assigns one below 35.5 inches and one at or above it?

The selected FRM055-BLK supports two memory positions: one below 35.5 inches and another at or above 35.5 inches. It cannot store three heights, and its slots are not freely interchangeable across that threshold.

Will one fixed 42 × 30-inch top fit the space you measured?

The selected included Black Laminate desktop is fixed at 42 inches long by 30 inches deep. The shape and keypad do not make another selector size part of this plan.

Explore this need in the finder →
Is a two-motor V3 frame sufficient, or is a three-motor minimum essential?

The selected V3 C-frame has two lifting motors. It can meet a two-motor minimum but not a three-motor requirement; the Advanced Paddle Keypad changes control, not the lift mechanism.

Do you need a controller lock or a user-set travel limit?

This exact configuration includes the FRM055B Advanced Paddle Keypad. Its manual documents both Lock mode and upper/lower height limits; neither is presented as a collision sensor or child-safety certification.

This assessment is for one configuration on UPLIFT’s U.S. Clearance Standing Desk selector: the included 42 × 30 × 1-inch Black Laminate desktop, black two-leg V3 C-frame with standard feet, black Advanced Paddle Keypad FRM055-BLK, and no desktop grommet holes. It is the control-focused sibling of the same-size Basic Display version. The keypad changes how you return to saved heights; it does not change the desktop size, frame, motor count, or the absence of a built-in power module.

The paddle is useful when two repeatable heights are enough

The FRM055-BLK replaces separate up/down arrows with a paddle: lift to raise the desk and press down to lower it. UPLIFT’s FRM055 instructions describe two stored positions, not a four-button bank. Position 1 must be set below 35.5 inches and Position 2 at or above 35.5 inches. Double-tap down to move toward the first and double-tap up for the second; a setting can instead require a second tap-and-hold. That split is a real constraint. If both of your useful saved settings would be below 35.5 inches, or both above it, this control does not provide two interchangeable memories in the way a four-preset keypad might.

The menu adds sitting and standing reminders at 10, 20, 30, 60, or 120 minutes (or off), upper and lower travel limits, keypad lock, inch/centimeter display, height calibration, and reminder vibration settings. These are configuration options, not proof that any particular posture schedule is right for every person. A limit can help avoid an overhead shelf or an obstruction under the desk only after it is set correctly; it does not replace checking the entire travel path. When automatic movement is enabled, keep the moving desk and its surroundings clear.

A compact width, but a full 30-inch working depth

The included top is 42 inches long and 30 inches deep. That narrow width can suit a short wall or a single-user setup where screen, keyboard, and writing space still need front-to-back room. Measure the actual desktop rectangle as well as the feet and chair path; a 42-inch nominal width does not account for nearby cabinets, cables, or room for a chair to turn. The selected top is one-inch Black Laminate, not solid wood. The no-grommet option leaves the top without a factory desktop power opening, so a separate strip or later installation is a different decision and should not be mistaken for an included accessory.

The black V3 C-frame uses two motors. Its specification sheet reports a 21.6–47.7-inch bare-frame range and a 355-pound lifting-capacity figure; that is not a finished desktop-height range or a static equipment rating. The source set does not establish the finished minimum height for this clearance top, remaining payload after the desktop, or a static-load rating. The frame manual also gives a 10-percent duty cycle—up to two minutes of movement within a 20-minute period, followed by rest for the remainder. These are manufacturer statements, not independent measurements of this assembled configuration.

Who should choose this version?

Choose this branch if the fixed 42 × 30-inch surface fits your room and you will use the paddle plus two height positions often enough to prefer it over a basic control. In the finder, a two-preset minimum can include this exact configuration; a three- or four-preset minimum should not. A 43-inch minimum desktop length excludes it, and a 3-motor requirement does too. Requiring a built-in AC/USB panel also excludes this no-grommet plan. If you want integrated outlets instead, compare the separately reviewed PDC013 package; its selected keypad is the Basic Display, so its preset count remains unconfirmed and should not inherit this FRM055 feature.

The other close alternative is the same 42 × 30-inch Black Laminate/V3 frame package with the Basic Display Angled Keypad. It preserves the same footprint while leaving memory support unknown in the reviewed source set. For a longer, shallower worktop, compare the separately assessed V3 C-frame 60 × 24 configuration rather than assuming this clearance selector’s other sizes share one plan. This assessment is a source-based comparison, not a hands-on stability, sound, duty-cycle, keypad, or lift test. Read the current Clearance Standing Desk selector, the Advanced Paddle Keypad product information, and the V3 C-frame specification together; choosing a different surface, frame, keypad, or grommet changes the assessment.

Paper, software and setup details

Desktop and configuration note

This exact plan includes a fixed 42 × 30 × 1-inch Black Laminate top, black V3 C-frame and black FRM055-BLK Advanced Paddle Keypad. It selects no grommet holes; no power grommet or optional accessory is included. The page’s separate PDC013 branch is not this configuration.

Load-rating interpretation

The V3 C-frame sheet states 355 lb lifting capacity, not a static rating, and the top weight is included in the family statement. The reviewed source set does not establish an equipment payload or a static maximum for this selected top/frame plan.

Operating and setup note

The FRM055-BLK paddle raises and lowers the desk. UPLIFT’s exact FRM055 manual text and current Advanced Paddle product information describe two memory positions: one below 35.5 inches and one at or above 35.5 inches, recalled by double-tap (or double-tap-and-hold mode). Reminder interval, upper/lower limits, lock, display units/calibration and vibration options are keypad functions. The exact older FRM055 PDF link currently returns HTTP 404 to direct retrieval; its official manufacturer web-view text was inspected. UPLIFT’s available eight-page FRM055B revision is archived separately and is not assumed to be the same SKU. The exact selected C-frame manual gives reset and 10-percent movement duty cycle. Finished surface minimum, static load rating and remaining payload remain unknown.
